Timing Views

Modified on Fri, 12 Jul at 3:15 PM

The Event Timing screen is split into a number of sections:

  1. Device status – This panel shows the status of decoders, displays and live timing connection which can help you with your System checks before timing and diagnose any equipment issues.
  2. Session list – This panel shows a list of sessions, in scheduled order.  Above the sessions are options to see and edit the event details, see and edit the competitors and to generate / regenerate grids.
  3. Timing control – This panel allows you to control the current session
  4. Session details – This panel shows the details of the selected session
  5. Latest passings – this panel shows the order the competitors last crossed the start/finish line
  6. Notifications – If enabled, this panel allows warnings, black flags and so on to be recorded, which will also be shown on a compatible LED display (e.g. alpha eflag) if one is installed.

The timing has 4 different views.

Gird view

The grid screen shows the competitors and their grid order for the session. Note any warnings shown that you may need to rectify

Results view

The Results view shows the ‘live’ result as the session is running. once the session has finished.

Competitors are colour coded as follows:

  • Blue text – competitor has completed the current lap
  • Black text – the competitor has not yet completed the current lap
  • Orange background – the competitor is overdue – these competitors should be checked to ensure that they are no longer circulating in case their transponder has failed.
  • Red text – No laps have been recorded for this competitor

Once the session has finished, it will show the session results.

Overview Screen

The overview screen shows a lap-by-lap breakdown of the race, along with the top 3 beat laptimes, overdue and missing competitors and alerts. If you wish to use this view, this can be found in the General settings of the timing. You can also chose to use this as the default view when timing, and whether to update this from sector passing.

The left hand side of the Overview screen shows a list of laps.  The list will automatically scroll, unless the mouse pointer is over the list.

Each lap is colour coded as follows:

 - Formation laps

 - Race laps

 - Rolled back red flag laps and red flag formation laps

 - Slowdown laps – the timing will automatically ignore any subsequent laps for a competitor once they have taken the chequered flag

The following columns may be shown (depending on system configuration):

  • Status – An icon will be shown if the transponder battery is low, and when the competitor has taken the chequered flag
  • No. – The competitor’s number.  The numbers are coloured based on the classes configured values
  • Race time – the elapsed race time at the end of that lap
  • Laps – the number of laps completed (0 is the session start).  Lapped competitors will be shown with a brown background
  • S# – the sector times for that lap, one column for each sector.
  • Lap time – the competitor’s laptime for that lap
  • Hits – the number of times a signal was received from the transponder
  • Signal – the transponder signal strength
  • Source – the source of the lap
    1.  - Tag Heuer transponder
    2.  - MyLaps transponder
    3.  - MyLaps X2 transponder
    4.  - Photocell
    5.  - Manual Passing
  • Tx – The transponder number (or short code for hire transponders)
  • Timestamp – The decoder (not local time) timestamp for the lap (note: this is shown at full precision)
  • Aux Timestamp – The photocell timestamp (if a photocell trigger was received for that lap)
  • Aux laptime – the laptime based on photocell triggers – this is only shown if there is a photocell trigger for both the start and end of that lap

Right clicking a competitor will give various options, depending on the status of the lap:

  • Set as first lap – this will adjust the session so that it starts from that lap.
  • Set as first finisher – Marks the competitor as the ‘winner’ of the session.  This can be used to roll a result backwards or forwards
  • Ignore lap – ignores that lap for that competitor. The lap will change to a grey background and will not count.
  • Disallow laptime - ignores the laptime for that competitor, but includes the lap in the lap count and race time.
  • Insert manual passing – adds a manual passing at that position
  • Status – allows the status of an individual competitor’s lap to be changed to either race or slow down.

The best laps box will show the three best laps, with the option to delete the laptime (for example if the driver shortcut the circuit)

The alerts box will notify you of various issues, for example a low battery

The overdue & missing competitors box will show and competitors who did not start the session, and ones who have not been seen for around 2 laps.

Lap Chart

The Lap chart view shows the laps from left to right using the same colour scheme of:

 - Formation laps

 - Race laps

 - Rolled back red flag laps and red flag formation laps

 - Slowdown laps

Lapped competitors will be shown with a brown background and counter of the number of laps down they are.
