What to do if the session is currently running
If you suddenly have a whole field of transponders unassigned from their competitors it is likely you are Timing the wrong session. We need to remove the classes you have preconfigured for the session and add the classes that are actually on track.
STEP 1: Click Tasks then Edit Session. In the Classes section, tick all the classes that are on track and untick those that aren't. Rename the session as appropriate and click Save.
STEP 2: Remove any competitors who are not on track from the current session by double clicking their names and clicking Remove Driver.
STEP 3: Repeat Step 1 on the session that should have been run, to add back in the session (with corresponding classes) that you removed from the running session.
STEP 4: For both amended session, check and amend the grid settings of any other sessions of both classes to make sure they are using the correct classes' sessions.
What to do if the competitors have not started racing
STEP 1: False start the current session in the Timing control panel
STEP 2: Confirm which class is on track and which session you are timing. This will be shown above the flags in the Timing control panel.
STEP 3: Locate the correct session and hit the Time Session button and green flag it immediately, preferably before the competitors hit the S/F loop.
Note: It may be that if the race or sessions start was not abandoned and a false start declared on track, then you will not have captured the first lap's passings to start the race. You may then need to adjust the session duration as appropriate.
The session you inadvertently started timing can be left in a false start state and when ready to actually time that session, click the Time Session button, and press the green flag to start the session as normal.
