Importing an Event into Scanning

Modified on Tue, 21 Mar, 2023 at 11:42 AM

In order to scan tyres for an event, it first needs to be imported.  This will download all drivers who have been entered, along with any tyre history, including tyres scanned at other clubs using the Alpha scanning system.  To import an event, simply click on the grey button in the lower section of the screen.

A message will be displayed, whilst the data is downloaded and imported.  Once this is complete, a panel will be shown allowing you to configure the event.

The first option allows you to specify whether championship tyre restrictions apply to this event. If restrictions apply, there is also the option to re-set the restrictions.  This is used for the start of a new championship, and will re-set all drivers to zero tyre usage.

The second option allows you to specify whether you wish to record the position (front/rear) of each tyre. Setting this option to yes will give you more detailed information, but will slow down tyre registration slightly as you will be asked to specify the position of the tyres as they are registered.

The third option allows you to specify whether wet tyres are to be recorded.  If set to yes, then you will be asked the type of the tyres as they are scanned, and if no, then all tyres will default to dry tyres.

The lower section of the screen shows a list of all of the classes racing during the event, along with options for each class.  The exact options displayed will vary depending on the selections made earlier (tyre restrictions, position and wet tyres).  This allows you to refine the settings on a class by class basis.

The full set of options are:

Event threshold: This determines the colour of a competitors on the competitors screen (shown below). A competitor with no scanned tyres will be shown in red, if the number of tyres is greater than 1 but less that the event threshold value then they will be shown in orange, indicating that not all required tyres have been scanned, and if the number of scanned tyres is greater than or equal to the threshold then they will be shown in green.

Restrict: when ticked, restrictions will apply to that class; otherwise they will be excluded from restrictions.

Champ restrictions: allows the maximum number of tyres to be adjusted for that class.

Once everything has been set as per your requirements for that meeting, click the finish button to complete the import.  At this point if restrictions are active, the class settings are saved and will be re-used as the default values when importing the next event.
