The first time you use the Timing you will be prompted to complete your Promoter Settings. These are the settings that link to the results sites and live timing and will have been sent to you by the Support Team when setting up. Select the relevant settings, either Competition Racing, Rental Karting or both and fill in the fields.
The menus will expand or contract depending on the options you select. If you are not sure of any of the fields please get in contact with the Support Team.
Modifying Promoter Settings
If you need to edit any of these settings, you can find them in the settings Module under the Promoters tab. If you have multiple promoters (i.e. you run Competition Karting and Rental Karting) you can choose which of your promoters to use as default.
In the General section, there are some additional fields where you can include your promoter's contact details.
Below the contact details are the configurations for your type of events. This will configured for the first time during installation depending on the type of racing you have for your promoter and are explained as follows:
- First Heat in order of entry
This is typically selected for corporate rental karting where drivers are arranged on the grid in order of registration to make it easier to allocate karts - Auto confirm results
This is typically selected for corporate rental karting so that the results are automatically issued after all competitors have finished, rather than having to click the Issue Results button - Assign Race numbers to qualifying sessions
For owner driver racing, Heat 1 of the first class running is usually Race 1, however if you run timed qualifying and would like the first Qualifying session of the day to be Race 1, you can tick this box - Late Entries on back of grid
For owner driver racing, if you want entries marked as late by the entry system to be on the back of the grid, tick this box - Include DNF/DNS/DSQ in reverse grids
When ticked if using reverse grids, any driver who did not finish, did not start or was disqualified, we will still include them in the reversing of the grid. For example, a driver disqualified from Heat 1 and listed as last in the results, will be shown as on pole for the reverse gird. Untick the respective box to keep the driver at the back of the grid. - Classification settings
You can choose from the following options on how to classify a finisher:- All starters - everyone who starts is classed as a finisher.
- Minimum number of laps - everyone who completes the set amount of laps is classed as a finisher.
- % of winner's distance - everyone who completes the set % of the winner's race distance i.e. if set to 90% and the race winner completes 10 laps, anyone who completes 9 laps or more will be classified as a finisher.
- % of winner's time - everyone who completes the set % of the winner's race distance i.e. if set to 90% and the race winner completes 10 minutes, anyone who completes 9 minutes or more will be classified as a finisher.
- Kart Assignment Type
For corporate rental karting this sets whether karts are assigned manually or on the kart's first loop passing. (This can also be configured in the Format template). - Apply Penalties bason on
Penalties can be applied based on the races finishing order (usually last to first) or can be applied based on when they were issued. - Place penalty mode
This affects penalties where race positions are adjusted. You can chose from:- No restrictions
- Classify before non starters
- Classify before non finishers
- Default Event type
This sets whether your promoter is used for corporate rental karting or owner driver racing - Grid report format
The following options are available for your printed grids:- Full sheet - a grid showing the drivers names and numbers with Pole at the top
- Full sheet inverse - a grid showing the drivers names and numbers with Pole at the bottom
- List - provides a list with grid positions and driver names
- Qualifying time percentage difference threshold
If a grid is generated from the result from qualifying sessions, a warning will be shown if there is more than configured % difference between the best laptime in both sessions. It will also offer options change the way the grid is calculated i.e. fastest session first or Row by row fastest. This can be used where two qualifying sessions are run but conditions change significantly between the two sessions.
Promoter Report Settings
In the reports settings, you can configure images to use on result printouts for the header and footer. You can also add promotional text and images, adjust when the header starts, and set the paper size.
Live Timing and Results Settings
The Live Timing and Results settings will have been configured the first time you used the timing application. These settings should not be adjusted without the advice of the Support Team. If you wish to disable the live timing this is done in Display Settings. If you do not want a particular session or event to appear on the Results website, this is configured in the Event itself. Please see the Event Details section the Timing an Event support article.
Import Settings
The import settings again will have been configured the first time you used the timing application. These settings should not be adjusted without the advice of the Support Team, however the number of days to show previous and future events can be adjusted to your preferences.
Owner-Driver Settings
For those who run competition racing there are also additional settings for creating Officials. In this section, you can create the Official's roles (i.e. Timekeeper, Clerk of the Course etc), create officials, add their signatures and set whose names to appear on the printed reports.
