This  page explains how to access the Timing Application remotely via a web browser. From this remote page you can control:

Please click on the above bullets points to see a guide on using the remote pages.

Setting up Remote Access

To operate the Timing App from a web browser you need to be on the same network as the Timing PC with the Alpha Timing app running.

STEP 1: Use any web browser and go to your unique Timing URL http://[timing-pc].local:8081

Note: You need to replace [timing-pc] with your PC's device name. To find this, right click on the Start button and select System. If this does not work instead of timing-pc use the local IP address of your timing computer e.g. http://192.168.1.100:8081 which you can find in Network and Internet Settings. Right click on the local network connection and click Status to see your device's local IP address.

When you enter the correct address, you will see an authorisation message:

If you don't there is likely some firewall or networking issue. Make sure your Window's network profile is set to Private and contact your IT provider if you need help. If successful, then note down the code (A) and head to the Timing PC.

STEP 2: On the Alpha Timing app click the Settings button (gear icon) and then the Devices tab at the top:

On the left you should see a list of devices that have requested access to the Timing app. Check the code on the device requesting access is the same as the one displayed in the browser you are attempting to connect (circled red). If so, give the device a Friendly Name e.g. Reception Computer, Starter's Tablet, and then select which permissions you'd like to give to the device.

STEP 3: Once you have selected the permissions click the Authorise Device button at the top of the screen. If you have modified any permissions of a previously authorised device, click Update Device.

You have now authorised this remote PC to be able to access parts of the Timing System. When you load the page on the remote device, you will see the options you have given permissions for.  It is a good idea to save the URL to your favourites or to your desktop so you can quickly access it. You can use the back button while navigating these pages remotely.
